When Hector Rebaque retired from the 1981 US Grand Prix at Las Vegas with a throttle problem, he began a 30-year drought of Mexican drivers in Formula 1 that will be brought to an end this season by Sergio Perez. An off-key 2010 in GP2 stopped him from living up to his pre-season status as title favourite, but there's no doubt over his basic speed, and he's not the type to be intimidated by the bright lights of the sport's top tier. How well he performs will ultimately depend upon how quickly he gets his head around the technical aspects of his new job.
