For all the jokes, CFD-dependent Virgin did a respectable job to go from nothing to a fully-functioning F1 team in the space of six months in order to race through 2010. It has learned from its rookie year and this time around the car is more conservative, particularly in the packaging and hydraulic areas - in other words, the parts that caused a lot of last year's reliability problems. Consistently finishing races will be the short-team goal, and having Timo Glock on board for a second season will provide a good picture of the MVR-02's limits. Jerome d'Ambrosio replaces Lucas di Grassi in the second seat, and should prove to be a capable pedaler.
