The issue of Williams's glacial shift away from its era as one of Formula 1's pace-setters is becoming a perennial in the build-up to each new season. Rather than the team having to catch up with the rest of the sport, the introduction of the resource restriction agreement could help bring the sport back towards Williams. True, this is unlikely to instantly turn the FW33 into something to keep Adrian Newey awake at night, but it certainly can't hurt. Its innovatively packaged rear end suggests that technical director Sam Michael has been willing to take some risks, and although the team has had to let Nico Hulkenberg go, Rubens Barrichello remains as good as ever.
